Position Overview

This per diem courier role provides flexible, as‑needed support to a team of two couriers. The position has no guaranteed or set schedule and is designed to provide coverage during busy periods, absences, or operational needs.

Shift Coverage:

• Primary shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

• Secondary shift: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Travel involves transporting materials between laboratories across the hospital network, including:

• University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC)

• Alice Hyde Medical Center

• Elizabethtown Community Hospital

• Porter Medical Center

• Central Vermont Medical Center

A hospital‑provided vehicle is used for all transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Package and transport blood components to and from regional hospitals in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.

• Support the Blood Donor Program by delivering promotional materials and supplies for mobile blood drives.

• Assist courier team members by providing coverage during peak times or staffing gaps.

• Maintain accurate handling of materials and ensure timely delivery across all assigned locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• Valid New York State driver’s license.

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. of dead weight and operate equipment used for handling, processing, and transporting blood products.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work positively with colleagues and partner sites.

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.
