JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Nursing Supervisor provides leadership, consultation and collaboration with the goal of facilitating the provision of high-quality care and service to a defined patient group or clinical area. The Nursing Supervisor serves as a resource to the organization related to the practice of ambulatory nursing and the community for information related to care within that area. The Nursing Supervisor must have an intense commitment to high level customer service, and the ability to foster that culture within the site or sites they manage.

EDUCATION:

State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.  Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative.

Master’s degree in nursing (or Nurse Practitioner Program), Business Administration, or Health Care Administration preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Three to five years RN experience in direct patient care. Three to five years supervisory experience, preferably in the ambulatory setting.

ABOUT THE INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT CLINIC:

The primary site of Interventional Pain outpatient service is located at 62 Tilley Drive, South Burlington, VT, which includes on-site parking. The Nursing Supervisor position supports a team of nurses in a busy procedural-based practice supporting interventions for pain medicine. This position supports high-quality clinical operations in conjunction with administrative supervisors, physician leaders, and various clinical roles. The position requires strong communication and collaboration skills to maintain an effective team-based approach to operational management.

ABOUT THE ORTHOPEDICS & REHABILITATION LOCATION:
The primary site of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation outpatient service is located at 192 Tilley Drive, South Burlington, VT, which includes on-site parking. The Nursing Supervisor position supports a team of nurses in a busy orthopedic and podiatric surgical practice as well as clinical support for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and/or non-operative Orthopedics providers. This position supports high-quality clinical operations in conjunction with administrative supervisors, physician leaders, and Lead APP. The role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to maintain an effective team-based approach to operational management.

ABOUT THE CARDIOLOGY LOCATION:

The sites for Cardiology outpatient service is located at 62 and 118 Tilley Drive, South Burlington, VT, which includes on-site parking. The Nursing Supervisor will oversee the outpatient clinics, providing leadership and operational support for high-value cardiology care and partnering on network initiatives. This role manages a multidisciplinary team, including clinical nurses, medical assistants, cardiac rehab staff, and scheduling personnel, ensuring efficient coordination of clinical visits, outpatient procedures, and outpatient non-invasive testing. The nursing supervisor will collaborate closely with inpatient leadership to align outpatient services and maintain seamless transitions of care. Responsibilities include supporting quality clinical operations in partnership with administrative leaders, physician leaders, and other clinical roles. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to sustain an effective, team-based approach to operational management and advance strategic goals across the UVM Health Network.
