Plant Ops Mechanic

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position requires an individual with excellent mechanical ability who can maintain, install and repair building service systems and equipment to include steam, water, drainage, gasses and fire protection.  The individual must be capable of completing specific preventative maintenace tasks on time. This individual is required to participate in on call rotation to cover all facility maintenance issues and if necessary, respond to the facility within 30 minutes. The individual must perform daily maintenance on all assigned equipment as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Skills Required:

1. High School diploma or GED required.

2. Must possess valid New York State driver's license and be insurable.

3. Vocational training and certification, or equivalent with respect to applicable building service systems preferred.

4. 10+ years of experience maintaining commercial/industrial boiler steam systems, plumbing systems, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, and building automation systems.

5. Demonstrated ability to use power tools and equipment related to maintaining the above mentioned systems. 

6. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. Experience reading and understanding  blueprints and schematics.

8. Must have a diverse understanding of building service systems and equipment and the ability to trouble-shoot all equipment responsible for

9. Experience recommending, designing and installing new plumbing systems and components.

10. Experience in welding, brazing, and soldering is preferred.

11. Backflow Device Tester certificatin required within 12 months of hire.

12. NYS certified DOL Asbestos O&M certification required within 12 months of hire.

13. NYS DEC 7G Pesticide Certification required within 12 months of hire.
