GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Clinical Education Manager is responsible for working collaboratively across the organization with leadership and staff to ensure overall orientation, education and training for staff development and patient care delivery both in the classroom and at the bedside. These individual displays competence in Adult Learning Principles and the 5 core health care competencies of interdisciplinary team work, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, patient-focused care and informatics. He/She is a clinical and professional role model and demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning. Responsibilities include educational program planning and delivery, compliance with regulatory standards, setting and maintaining standards of nursing care and practice, coordinating services, coaching for development and providing for professional growth of staff across multiple departments to meet needs of the organization. The Clinical Education Manager works hours as needed to meet the needs of staff and organization to include consistent, visible presence on off shifts, weekends and holidays. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing required. Master’s in nursing preferred.
2. Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York required.
3. Certification in specialty preferred or active involvement with completion within twelve (12) months.
4. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
5. Three (3) years’ experience in a relevant clinical setting required as determined by Associate Vice President or Vice President. Demonstrated leadership and management abilities with good oral/written communication skills, ability to facilitate change, lead teams and develop and implement education programs. Meets requirement of physical/preplacement screening.
6. Minimum of two (2) years relevant management, supervisory or educational experience and/or charge nurse experience required.
7. Applicable educational technology required.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
