Summary
University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking an experienced and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Trauma & Critical Care Surgical team in Burlington, VT.
The PA/NP will work under specific accreditation standards in collaboration with an attending physician to develop and implement direct care to Acute Care Surgery (Emergency General Surgery, Trauma, or Critical Care) patients and will also assist in the OR at UVMMC’s Fanny Allen Campus.
This is a 1.0 FTE exempt position working four 10-hour shifts per week: 6:30am – 16:30pm; Monday – Sunday rotating schedule with one weekend every 5 weeks. No on call coverage.
Experience
Minimum 2 years full time clinical PA/NP experience required.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years specific surgical, trauma, critical care, and/or hospitalist experience.
This position requires an experienced practitioner and new PA/NP graduates are not able to be considered at this time.
Education, Licensure, and Certifications
PA: Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 – Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
Completion of a surgical PA program desired
NP: Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or an equivalent body is required.
Active RNFA certification desired
