This is a bargaining union position.

The Cardiovascular Unit is a 15-bay prep and recovery unit supporting the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab and Interventional Radiology Department. Care is provided for patients with structural heart problems, coronary stents, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, non-ST-Elevation MI’s, arterial and venous blood vascular disease, strokes, liver, kidney, uterine and lung disease, and cancers.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Nurse Educators are responsible for all aspects of nursing professional development including the facilitation of lifelong learning and providing activities aimed at professional growth, role competence and skill proficiency. Their work is grounded in evidence from the sciences of nursing practice, education, and medicine. Nurse Educators use knowledge and skills in learning theory, career development, leadership and program management. Their process includes the assessment of learning needs, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs within a practice environment.

EDUCATION:

Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. Master's degree in nursing preferred.

 

For Central Nurse Educators: BSN Required with Nursing Professional Development Board Certification or eligible for certification, Masters in a related health field or education preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Five years' experience as a subject matter expert in an appropriate field. Demonstrated success in designing and delivering educational programs preferred. For unit based educators, experience as a clinical preceptor required.
