This positions requires the applicant to work onsite in South Burlington, Vermont. This is not a remote opportunity. Staff must provide support coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Daytime hours (8:00-5:00 ) and on-call coverage may be required.

Job Description

Functional Knowledge

  • Requires conceptual and practical expertise in networking and general knowledge of related areas
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how IT Networking integrates with other areas or aligns with other areas to provide holistic patient care; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate the organization in the market
  • Acts as a resource for other team members; may lead projects with limited risks and resource requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement complex networking solutions.
  • Lead efforts in resolving critical networking issues.
  • Ensure network security, compliance, and reliability across the hospital.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for junior staff members.
  • Optimize hospital-wide network performance for critical care systems.
  • Oversee network integration with other hospital IT systems.
  • Coordinate and lead network upgrade and expansion projects.
  • Monitor network security and address vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with vendors for system upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and implement improvements in networking protocols.

SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Advanced problem-solving skills for complex issues.
  • Ability to lead network projects from planning to execution.
  • Proficiency in security protocols and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with virtualization and cloud networking solutions.
  • Leadership skills in training and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Analytical skills for performance optimization.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to design and implement robust networking solutions.
  • Experience with integration of networking systems across departments.
  • Adaptability to emerging networking technologies and trends.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or formal technical training or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco certifications preferred (CCNA, CCNP)
