Variable hours per week, shifts include 6am to 2:30pm; 11am to 7:30pm and 4pm to 7:30pm. 15% per diem differential paid in addition to hourly rate.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nutrition Care Representative (NCR) is a point person for food service issues affecting patients, food and nutrition staff and nursing services. The NCR is responsible for serving patient trays and nourishments, as well as refilling floor stocks and any other clerical duties related to patient meal service as required. The NCR assists paients with menu selection either by room service calls or through bedside order entry. The NCR ensures that patients receive meals and nourishment in accordance with diet prescriptions and individual preferences. Duties include patient initial screening by NFS, taking food orders, updating patient information using GemServe as required, correcting menu choices under supervision and using dietary guidelines, alerting the clinical nutrition staff and/or supervision to any patient care issues. Reports to the Clinical Nutrition Manager through the Patient Dining Supervisor.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

High school diploma or equivalent required OR dual enrollment in college and high school with college level healthcare related coursework. Study in basic nutrition, basic food science, and diet therapy preferred. Computer proficiency and legible handwriting is required. Superior communication skills in phone etiquette and customer service are required. Ability to handle all food products safely and basic knowledge of nutrition diet concepts and the ability to explain these to patients and families is also required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum one year experience in healthcare food service or in a direct patient care role is preferred. Equivalent college coursework in clinical nutrition, practical nutrition, or nutrition therapy may be substituted for this work experience requirement. Six months of work as a CVMC Food Service Worker III, Diet Aide or Host demonstrating all proficiency stated above is also qualifying experience.
