JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs mammography procedures on patients as ordered by physicians and health care providers in an ethical and professional manner according to hospital, department policy and according to the ACR, MQSA, and New York State Department of Health Guidelines.  Must assist in all aspects of the Women's Imaging Center’s procedures and quality control.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health and maintain current registered ARRT (Radiographer) status. Must obtain ARRT (Mammographer) credentials within one year.  

Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills in dealing with apprehensive patients and families in a professional and compassionate manner.

Requires positive and effective communicating skills for interaction with physicians and staff in any situation.

Requires an ability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient quality care in a variety of stressful situations.

Must be BLS certified (or obtained within 3 months)

As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.

SCHEDULE:

The primary shift time is 9:30am-6:00pm, and the secondary shift times are 12:00pm-8:30pm and 7:30am-4:00pm. Weekends as scheduled, and call is not required. Expectations for weekends to be discussed with the hiring leader.

As a Level III trauma center and referral center for northern NY, CVPH coordinates closely with UVM Medical Center, a Level I trauma center located 1 hour away to provide our patients with comprehensive access to care.  The UVM Health Network Department of Radiology provides integrated image management systems so that network physicians across northern NY and Vermont have access to images from any of our locations. Our imaging equipment and protocols are becoming standardized across all our sites, so that patients receive the same level of imaging quality no matter where their images are obtained.

At CVPH, we are in the process of upgrading to state-of-the-art imaging equipment, including 128 and 256 slice CT scanners. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest IT and imaging technology, while living in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Plattsburgh, NY is situated on beautiful Lake Champlain and is only a short drive from the majestic Adirondack and Green Mountains. We are an hour away from Burlington, VT, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Lake Placid, NY is the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games and is only an hour away.
