JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the UVMMC DEI Director for Employee Experience and Education, the DEI Program Manager will join the UVMMC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) & Patient Experience dept, as well as, become a member of the UVM Health Network DEI team.  The UVMMC DEI Program Manager will lead quality improvement initiatives and activities that drive an increase in employee and patient experience and community engagement, by creating a welcoming and inclusive organizational environment that supports individual and collective awareness and curiosity regarding culture, belonging, and diversity. The DEI Program Manager is responsible for supporting the development of the UVMMC Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), monitoring the department strategic plan ensuring alignment with overall system strategy through a quality improvement framework, coordinating DEI consults and requests for education/training with the team, supports grant research and writing for the DEI & Patient Experience Department, monitors and submits annual AHA and Healthcare Equality Index designations, and provides project management support for the DEI directors on strategic quality and equity focused projects. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, DEI project management, patient experience & health equity quality improvement plans, planning and execution of DEI signature programs and multicultural events, tracking strategic planning milestones, supporting and tracking data requests for the DEI team, managing key stakeholders, mentoring and supporting UVMMC ERG Co-Leaders, community event planning including the annual Health Equity Summit, fostering collaborations with the Office of Patient & Family Advocate and Patient & Family Advisors, executing communication plans, and will help facilitate DEI education and training modules.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Human Services, Human Resources, Management or a Health Care Related field or equivalent work experience. DEI Certification(s) preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

· At least 3 years of related professional experience developing, training, and communicating about diversity, equity, and inclusion

· Strong facilitation skills for providing training and education

· Project Management and quality improvement methodologies

· Facilitating conversations and interventions relating to DEI and courageous conversations

· Working with diverse teams

· Event planning

· Comfortable working with patient advocacy/patient advisors

· Collaboration with community partners

· Expertise in metrics and measuring DEI initiatives

· Experience with Microsoft Office products is necessary

· Diversity, equity, and inclusion organizational work and organizational internal/external communications,

· Staying informed and up to date with DEI topics and practices

· Understanding and experience with change management

· Strong ability to participate in a highly effective team

· Experience working collaboratively across functional areas

· Experience with employee engagement platforms such as Microsoft Teams

· Strong effective and appropriate written and verbal communication skills in a business environment
