Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up consultations for patients presenting with acute mental health needs in the Emergency Department.
Work autonomously while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatry attendings, residents, emergency medicine providers, social workers, mental health technicians, and medical students.
Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and crisis intervention.
Coordinate care transitions with inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient providers, and community resources.
Contribute to documentation, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of best practices in emergency psychiatry care.
Experience
Prior experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings is strongly valued. For Nurse Practitioners, certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is preferred. While not required for Physician Assistants, equivalent experience in psychiatric care is highly regarded.
