Summary

The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a dedicated, experienced and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Bariatric Surgery practice in Williston, VT.

The PA/NP will work under specific accreditation standards within a collaborative clinical team environment and will also assist in the OR at UVMMC’s Main Campus.

This is a 1.0 FTE exempt position with primary shift coverage of Mon – Fri 8 am to 5 pm, with no evening, weekend, or on-call requirements.

Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years practicing clinical PA/NP experience with preference given for surgical and project experience.

  • New PA/NP graduates with extensive prior experience in acute care or surgical services along with a strong desire to build a career in bariatric surgery are encouraged to apply.

Education, Licensure, and Certifications

PA: Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 – Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.

  • Completion of a surgical PA program desired

NP: Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or an equivalent body is required.

  • Active RNFA certification desired
