Frequently Asked Questions
What is the program structure for classes and clinicals?
The MLT Pathway Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes didactic and laboratory learning via distance education, as well as hands-on clinical rotations within the UVM Health Network. Participation requires full-time commitment across four semesters at Weber State University. All classes will be virtual. Clinical practicum hours will take place in laboratory settings at participants’ UVMHN employer sites.
How many work hours are required during the program?
While enrolled in the MLT program at Weber State University, students will work their regular job 48 hours per pay period. Students will receive pay for an additional 24 hours per pay period to allow time for classwork, lab/clinical instruction, and studying.
How does tuition reimbursement work?
Students are responsible for paying all tuition and fees. For graduates who commit to working at their respective partner location for three years, they will reimbursed in one-third increments for all out-of-pocket tuition, fee, and books costs beginning one year after graduation.
What if I’m not a lab employee at one of the UVM Health Network partners? Can I still apply?
Being a full-time laboratory employee in a UVM Health Network partner is a requirement for application and enrollment. To be eligible for the program you’ll need to be hired as a full-time employee in the laboratory department of any UVM Health Network partner.
